Shave Cross Inn

A friendly pub with an intriguing history

Legend has it that this ancient rest house (that has survived for over 700 years) was once a stopping point for pilgrims where they could have their heads shaved by the landlord as a mark of respect before heading to St. Wite’s Shrine at Whitchurch Canonicorum. Nowadays haircuts have been replaced with excellent food and ales. If you’re feeling hearty, try the enormous “River Come Down”, but be sure to call ahead!
